Jan 26-29 Hike In Sierra De La Laguna - This a 4 day hike leaving Tues, Jan 26, 9 am from Santiago, with optional horses/mules to assist with the gear- and a great local guide I used last year. Bring your own gear, and food, tho we will be sharing to some extent as possible. It is hard slog, (so best to have some backpacking experience, and be in good shape), but it´s very interesting and very beautiful. Every Wednesday, From 9am to 12 Noon, starting January 27 to April 28th
Location: Casa De la Cultura, Madero #825, Cross St. - Salvatierra y Torre Iglesias in La Paz.
Casa de la Cultura is a gorgeous location for this class that will be taught in two parts by Sherry Duncan and Fransisco Merino.
The first hour and a half (1 1/2) will be Classical Figure drawing with a live model, taught by Sherry who has taught this class numerous times over the years.
Various lighting techniques and materials such as pencil, pastel and charcoal will be used.
If you have a large sketch pad and drawing materials please bring them to your first class, however if you don't have them, Sherry will bring all materials for the first class and will give you a list of materials you will need for your next class. Easels will be provided for both classes. At the end of this class you will feel confident in drawing figures.
The second part is also one and a half hours (1 1/2) of Contemporary Painting with Famous Fransisco Merino, longtime La Paz Artist. Fransisco is known for his marvelous creative painting style and different use of materials.
In this class you will be using oils and acrylics and will focus on a new approach of opening your mind enough to loosen up and conquer your fears by trying new and creative ways of painting.
There will be many varied and important demonstrations with the possibility of doing some plien aire painting.
Cost for 3 hours per week is $280 pesos. You only pay for weeks you are in attendance.

Sweetest Puppy Anywhere Needs Home! - A few days ago an adorable little puppy started hanging out outside our rented casita. She is clearly homeless, and yet is one of the coolest dogs I have ever met. She has big brown eyes, and a nice golden brown coat with black trim. She is gentle, affectionate, playful, and also very mellow - not hyper. Elegant proportions. A fast learner, (she already knows sit and stay, and is great with my four year old daughter.) I am so impressed with her, I would bring her home to NYC myself, except we already have one dog in a small apartment. I've already taken her to the vet -- she is five months old, 8 kilos, has been immunized and is generally healthy. Lost Dog - Please help us find our dog! There was an accident on Sunday, January 3rd around 2 pm at KM 224 1/2 on highway 1, 55 km north of the Bahia Los Angeles turn off at Punta Prieta. Our dog was inside the van that rolled and when he got out he ran off into the desert and we were unable to find him after searching hours and days.
His name is "Pickle". He is a tan lab/great dane mix. He is very Friendly, but I'm sure very scared. He was wearing a collar with a name tag that had our numbers on it; both U.S. and Mexico. He was last seen by a witness, running west into the desert at km 224 1/2.
The reward is currently $300 usd, but I am willing to do what it takes to get my sweet boy back.
