Shoes For Spays Program - Interesting way to fund spay and neuter efforts by members of the San Felipe Animal Rescue group.
In addition to local fund raising efforts, the Shoe For Spays Program raises money by selling donated shoes on eBay. You can browse their listings here: stores.shop.ebay.com/ZAPP-SPAY-NEUTER-PROJECT-SHOE-STORE__W0QQ_armrsZ1. Through the program, the group has been able to perform 100 to 125 surgeries every month.

"ZAPP," an acronym for the Zero Additional "Pup"ulation Project, is based in San Felipe, a fishing village and seasonal resort located at the northern end of the Baja Peninsula, just 125 miles south of the US border.
Mexico, as you might know, is overrun with stray and indigent dogs and cats, and population control is critical. We are a no-kill organization, and we hold two low cost spay/neuter clinics each month, working out of a local school, using Mexican vets and local volunteers. We try to spay and neuter 100+ dogs and cats every month, with a goal of achieving zero population growth by the end of 2010. To date, San Felipe has “fixed” over 5,000 stray and indigent dogs and cats.
