Cooking With Chiles Dos - A gourmet cooking class with a bite.
Chef Dany Lamote offers a “Mexican-fusion" dinner where chiles are the central topic.
Thursday, July 9th at Serendipity.
The class is full but there is still limited seating available for the 5-course dinner prepared by the students. Dinner is served outdoors by the pool with ocean view at sunset. A Dazzling Day - Fishing was just part of the day. Captains Jose and Lee of La Sirena/Iguanas de los Mangos sport fishing took my wife, five-year-old son and I out for a morning and afternoon off the coast of Todos Santos. We ostensibly were going to fish. But Jose and Lee provided a wonderful, enriching day that included a tour of the cliffs, the old port and a visit to a cove of sea lions. They also sought and found a school of hundreds of playful porpoises that we nestled up beside in the 20-foot fishing boat and tagged along with for hours; a truly inspiring and amazing event to participate in. My son had a terrific time, seeing the porpoises, two marlins and a series of manta rays; and he helped reel in a baracuda and two jumping, sleek,green and blue-specked dorado. Lee, who was very patient and professional, later cleaned and fileted the dorado for us, and even shared a couple of his favorite recipes. Jose, whose peripheral vision spotted fish on the water hundreds of yards away, and Lee, whose South African English and rugged charm and hospitality, were both committed to making sure we made the most of the time we spent on the water. They were trustworthy and professional. Indeed, whether one is an avid angler or a family of apsiring fisherfolk, this must be how sport fishing was meant to be enjoyed. Oh, and Lee also brought along muffins that he'd backed the night before.
