Although my truck is capable of the job, I hope to avoid the big hills, narrow lanes, the topes, and some of the bad asphalt of the Baja highway. I've not travelled the mainland toll road. Todos Santos Volunteer Disaster Response Team - In the past couple days I have watched documentaries on the 2004 Sumatra Mega-Tsunami and the 2005 Katrina Hurricane.
One profound thing I took away from these tragic events was that we can NOT rely upon governments to provide effective immediate rescue or relief. In both cases, members of the local community played a very important role in the early stages of the disasters and were vital in saving lives.
So I am proposing the formation of a group of volunteers interested in coming together and beginning the advanced stages of organization and planning for a disaster response team within our local community.
