El Pescadero Community Thanks To Government And Ejido Delegation. - The residents of El Pescadero Beach South express their great appreciation to the delegation of government and ejido officials who met with us on May 8 to discuss cooperation in ending break ins, thefts and other public nuisances, as well as the overall betterment of the El Pescadero community for expatriates and Mexican residents alike.
The delegation speakers were Lic. Jose Luis Castillo, Delegado Municipal (Mayor) of Todos Santos; Luis Enrique Navarro Cordova, Comandante Policia Preventiva in Todos Santos and El Pescadero; Francisco Lopez Solis, Comandante Policia Ministerial (State); Sra. Carmen Higuera Perez, President of El Pescadero Ejido. Also attending were Lic. Diego Javier Pico and Julio Villalobos Dominguez of the administration, and Angie Zamorano and Antonio Corvelio Salvatierra of the ejido.
We all agreed to meet in the future to assess progress on security and to cooperate on community social and cultural projects. The Mayor informed us that he is having similar meetings with many neighborhoods and looks forward to open communications with the English-speaking community including constructive criticism about the work of his administration. {Name withheld by request}

Re: Cheap Solar Solution - This is most likely a scam. This information is probably available elsewhere for cheaper. It would be very impractical to build your own solar panels. Especially to power a fridge like he claims on his website. His website is connect to a web of other sites that back up the claims, but all of them are fake. This is a common tactic of spammers who are paid to drive "clicks" to web sites. Amerimed Announcement (Courtesy Baja Pony Express) - While researching and staying on top of the statistics of the swine flu epidemic we learned that only 2 states in Mexico have been spared of reported cases, one is Lower Baja and the other is Sinaloa. The alert has intensified the past few days in 5 states throughout Mexico because of new cases and deaths. The schools will remain closed until the 18th of May for most of Mexico, except in lower Baja (fortunate for us good hand washers).
During this research we have been learning a few other things that are of concern regarding vaccines. In general vaccines are getting difficult to obtain over the counter and are very costly, for example we have been trying to get Tetanus for over 2 months and cannot purchase from local pharmacies as I have in the past, so we are special ordering and we will have multi dose vials coming soon. However the prices adjustments will need to be made.
The other concern is the RATTLE SNAKE VENOM. It is the season, and recently a group took up a collection in order for me to purchase and keep stocked in the clinic at least one vial of this special serum. Well, in my vain attempt I have come up empty for purchasing this over the counter, even at Farmacia Dorada where I initially purchased these 2 years ago for less than 500 pesos a box.. they quoted me 1,500 pesos a box of one vial BUT their rep has not filled their request in several months.
This is the most recent information about RATTLE SNAKE VENOM after checking various pharmacies and using our catalog from the hospital.
Each 2 vial box container of Rattle Snake venom in the US costs $3,567 usd. In Mexico each vials is 30,000 pesos (numbers are still rolling in, this is average)
In Amerimed Cabo San Lucas 3 vials are kept on hand. In order to keep in stock here in Barriles at least 3- 5 vials would be necessary to initiate the treatment before immediate transport to the hospital depending on the severity of the reaction to the bite. Since it takes at least 4-6 vials as the initial dosing this is a very costly treatment. The serum is given through an IV slowly over several hours, with respect to the first ½ hour to ensure there is not a sensitivity issue with the serum.
At present I have collected a total of 1,600 pesos from various individuals but as you can see there is a huge shortfall. Dr. Cevallos and I are attempting to obtain availability for the clinic to stock at least enough to initiate treatment for enroute transport. If anyone has more information or experience please offer feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.

Missing Dog - Have you seen my dog, Dusty? Brown, about 40 pounds, quite thin, boxer/pitbull, very sweet. He is the only one of my five who can jump the wall and I can't keep him in the yard. He wanders everywhere and several people in town "foster" him when he comes around. He spends a lot of time downtown and is often with me at the bookstore. No matter how much he wanders, he is always at my front gate in the morning. He wore a blue collar. Yesterday he showed up without the collar and today he didn't show up at all. Found Dog - I found a nice sheperd-like female dog at my gate by the highway.
