Michael's At The Gallery - Michael's at the Gallery will be closed on Saturday, May 9. Brigada Verde T S Update - Thanks to all of you who have given us your ideas for the new and improved recycle program. More news from The Green Brigade! Don Ricardo Perez has graciously donated the use of his lot in Las Brisas for storage of materials to be recycled and repurposed. Linda Stoick and Andrea Metkus and Grupo Madal have all donated supplies to fence Don Ricardo’s lot.
Plastics will be the focus of the BVTS 2009-2010 program and we are looking at the opportunity to repurpose plastic bags into usable strong 9-ply plastic rope. Save all your plastic bags! Maybe go out on your Calle and pick up those floating around, clean them off and save them, too, they don’t take up much room. Save all clean and flattened plastic containers marked #1 and #2 on the bottom; we will recycle those even while we look for a better way to reuse them. We will be ready to accept all these items in October at the new site.
Tip for the week: reuse all containers like cereal boxes and juice containers etc, for trash and you won’t have to use as many plastic bags. For everyone still saving glass bottles, you can take them to Pescadero on Wednesdays from 1-2pm. Call MaryLo at 612-130-3172 for directions. SINADES charges a 75 peso fee for accepting glass, so perhaps you and other friends can get together for one Pescadero run. Let Them Eat Cake! - Although the planned celebration for Dia´Del Niño was cancelled due to the flu virus preventive, the children of the migrant camps La Pastora and Santa Cruz had their cake and ate it too, thanks very much to Alicia and her generous baking heart. She prepared a huge delicious and healthy carot ginger raisin whole wheat brown sugar cake and a scrumptious loaf filled with chocolate walmut cream. The smiles on the children's faces were heartwrenching heaven, little hands clapping when we arrived. They had been told there would be no festivity. Imagine their delight!. Any Room In Your Truck Or Trailer?? - **STUFF looking for a ride south from Los Angeles**** Looking for someone who is coming down with a LOT of room (as in almost empty) in their trailer or truck. A Great Meal La Poza With A View To Remember - I often hear from people who live here how expensive La Poza is, and it surprised me to find out that they were no more expensive than most of the restaurants in town. I had a couple of friends visiting who wanted to see it and boy were they impressed. We started out our meal with a guacamole appetizer and one great margarita each.
The owner then suggested a mixed seafood platter that would serve the three of us. The seafood platter consisted of three types of scallops, shrimp and fish of the day served with fresh coleslaw, beets and other green. The seafood was cooked several different ways that were all tender and succulent. There was even enough left over to take to my husband. My friends then wanted to try the crepes, because someone next to us said they were great. We had two deserts including the crepes that were melt in your mouth delicious.
This fabulous meal that my friends were expecting to pay more for (they had been in Cabo for a week) was 100 dollars plus tip. I don't know about you, but I have been to few restaurants in this where three people can eat for less than that and have enough left over for a fourth.
La Poza is an excellent place to take your friends who have never been here. My friends called me from home and said they would never forget it, and that when they come to Cabo next year with their sister they plan on visiting La Poza with her.
