Dia Del Tambo - Volunteers needed to help with The Palapa Society's 5th annual Dia del Tambo on Sunday, April 26, 1 - 3. This is a great community event for children and their families. Teams of kids and adults come together to paint tambos which are distributed throughout the community for trash collection. Children Sleeping On 15 Year Old Matresses - 70 children in our Albergue Escolar No.3 Prof. Francisco Cota M.,known also as the Internado, on La Cachorra Rd. are sleeping on old matresses, being feed on a budget of 40 pesos per child for 3 meals a day. Though they spend 5 days week in the Internado there is no budget for sports equipment, muscial instruments, art supplies or for extra books for research or study.
The Internado is a Mexican boarding system for Rancho children who live too far away to commute daily. The documentary "Rancho Aparte" about these children was shown at the Todos Santos Film Festival this Feb. Prof.Rodolfo Alvarez Arce and his caring staff provide a loving clean homelike atmosphere but are strained with their limited budget.
I was so touched by the colorful and joyful place they have created I have opened a bank account in their name and Leonardo Perel and I have made a deposit as a start. We hope you will join us and either deposit a gift in account #2673527387 in Bancomer of Todas Santos. No amount is too small to make a difference. Or, better yet, visit the school and made your donation directly. All money stays at this Internado and donors, upon request, will be give a report of how the money is used.
