RE: FLU SHOTS
Was told Saturday that the
clinic in Pescadero will be offering free flu shots. Second hand info but
if you want "the rest of the story" let me know. - Bob

The Centro de Salud in Todos offers flu shots...be aware these may not be the
same as what is used in the US...my infant was given the liquid polio vaccine
(drops) which is no longer used up there...and they dispensed it holding the
entire bottle of liquid polio over his open mouth...one time he got three drops
instead of the correct dosage (two).

ASUPMATOMA's TURTLE PROGRAMS CONTINUE TO
ROCK
Thanks to all the volunteer that made this season
happen, late but productive, 54 nests, 5600 eggs, potentially 5400+ baby turtles
to release. We're waiting patiently for the first nests to hatch, will be
checking all day Monday and Tuesday.
The Future Biologists worked hard
last week on a clean-up campaign around the nursery in La Tunas. Congratulations
La Tunas residents, your beach is very clean, we did find one clandestine
garbage dump on the dune, which will be restored over the next few weeks. Lots
of small particles of plastic and Styrofoam were picked up.
Sign Painting
this week: We have been given plywood and paint by SEMARNAT/CONANP as part of
their turtle conservation program, but we need help painting don't drive on the
beach sign/turtle nesting area signs. We'll be working at the DIF building
Tuesday October 31st and Thursday November 2nd, 3-5pm, unless there are turtles
to release then we'll be at the nursery.
After a brief meeting with
ASUPMATOMA's founder and President, Rene Pinal, I've been given the go ahead to
strengthen ASUPMATOMA's presence in Todos Santos and I need your help. Talk to
your neighbors about our work, attend a turtle release, help paint a sign, join
our motor free beach campaign (more on this one soon) Our success depends on
your participation and spreading of our message, "Todos Santos cares about
protecting turtles." Come to our next meeting November 8th, 6:00pm, Surf
Shop/Turtle headquarters, calle Rangel y Degollado near Miguel's restaurant.

Watch Batteries Thanks to everyone with their
helpful suggestions as to where to get a watch battery replaced. I did go to La
Paz Monday and went to one-of-many watch stores on 16th de Septiembre. It cost
40 pesos per watch and only took minutes. I have heard of one possible place
here in Todos Santos and, if it's true, I'll let you know. --

Mitzie, another
charming resident of Todos Santos's first cat refuge, Kitty Heaven, is
looking for a loving home. She's been spayed, had her shots and is good to go.
