Thank you to the people who want to make a donation in Mulege.  You can drop off clothes and medical supplies at the hospital 24 hours per day, since they are always open.  The hospital is on the one way street as you go in to town, right after the church on the right, the hospital is the yellow building on the left.

Pumpkin #2 Halloween Party at The Sandbar Pumpkin #2

Now that Restaurante Santanas esta no mas, the Sandbar will take up the slack by holding its own First Annual Halloween Party on Tuesday night, October 31. There will be a "Fright Night" Costume Contest, with prizes given to the best three costumes. The Sandbar will also hold an Open Mike that night, hosted by Sean and Cowboy. Cover charge of 30 pesos per person, por favor.

A.L.M.A. (Animal Lovers of Mexico) of East Cape is planning another busy year. In addition to our regular spay and neuter clinics we will have veterinarian Dr. Blanco and his excellent staff providing treatment services for the community. More details coming soon. Doughdrums - I have a bread maker that I have never used at home and am having some marginal results with the flour down here. The recipes call for bread flour which I can't find. Any recommendations? Thanks. - Ashley, ashley.self (-at-) yahoo.com.
Cucaracha Cookies - Cockroaches have been thriving in the heat. Here's a tip from The Baja Survivor's Guide to help eliminate them:

To get rid of cockroaches, make Cucaracha Cookies. While these are non-toxic to humans and pets, the insoluble spicules of boric acid destroy the insects' intestinal tracts. Combine 2  cup of borax powder with 1/4 cup of flour.  Moisten with enough sweetened condensed milk to make balls.  Food coloring appropriate to the season is optional!  (Thanks to Jane Coursin)
